Reporting into the General Manager, Group Strategy & Program Office, this is a leading role, exploring and finding deals that align with Avant’s Acquisition strategy and helping to nurture the newly acquired businesses so that they thrive in Avant.

Key Responsibilities

• New acquisition opportunities: exploring and finding deals that align with strategy (with sponsoring CEO).
• Own and be responsible for compliance with the Acquisitions governance process.
• Avant new ventures portfolio: strategically assesses the value of the overall portfolio.
• Work with relevant CEOs to ensure strategies are in place to deliver strategic and financial objectives for each New Venture business.
• Report on each New Venture business against original assumptions, targets and commitments.
• Harnesses and apply learnings to future New Venture business acquisition.
• Manages capital injections into New Venture businesses (until they are no longer required).
• Oversee process for minority interest earn-outs (with CEO).
• Work with CEO on any divestment process.
• Own and be responsible for compliance with the divestments governance process. 

To be successful you will have

• Degree qualified, ideally with a strong commercial finance degree/MBA.
• 5+ years’ experience working in the strategy area of a major Bank or insurer or in a M&A transaction firm.
• Hands-on experience with acquisition deals, coordinating due diligence, valuations, cap tables, applying capital (debt & equity).
• Ideally you will have some experience with deals at a PE or VC firm.
• Contemporary understanding of market commercial terms on instruments like convertible notes.
